How about setting up a meeting in nature and a mountain rather than in an office?
The opportunity for all of us working in London is only a couple of hours north. Instead of heading to the office for a 9am meeting, why not book a day off and head to St Pancras Station with The Peak District’s, Kinder Scout in your diary for a midday appointment. There’s a 9.02am to Edale via Sheffield which delivers you to the base of Kinder just before midday.
Depending on the time of year and comfort in descending with a head-torch at dusk, you can get at least 4-5 hours of hill time before heading to the Ramblers Inn for a well-earned pie and pint, ready to catch the 7.32pm back to London.
There are a host of routes from Edale up onto Kinder depending on your experience, fitness, sense of adventure and time. When you do get up on top, especially mid-week, you are treated to a wonderful expanse of big skies, heather as far as the eye can see and curious clustering of large rocks, beautifully sculptured by the elements, often without seeing another soul.
Whether to take time out to refuel oneself or grab a friend or colleague for a walk and talk, why not check your diary now, see where there’s an opportunity mid-week and book your train tickets.
Kinder Scout awaits you.
